Federal contracts only small businesses can bid on, sorted for you.

The government reserves contracts for small firms, but they're posted on SAM.gov among thousands of others. Tell us your state and industry, and we email you the day a new one that fits your business is posted. Nothing on days without one.

What's a set-aside?

A contract the government reserves for small businesses.

Federal agencies are required to send part of their spending to small firms. One way they do it is by setting contracts aside, so large companies can't bid on them at all.

Some set-asides are open to any small business. Others are reserved for firms with a specific SBA certification, which means even fewer competitors.

Small business

Any firm under the size limit for its industry can bid.

HUBZone

Small firms based in designated low-income areas.

WOSB and EDWOSB

Women-owned small businesses.

8(a)

Firms in the SBA's program for socially and economically disadvantaged owners.

SDVOSB

Service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.

Not certified?

You can still bid on every small business set-aside.

What an alert looks like

A short email, sent only when a new contract matches. Every listing links straight to the original notice on SAM.gov.

01

Matched to you

Each new notice is checked against the NAICS codes on your profile, your certifications and your state.

02

Only what is new

You never get the same contract twice, and nothing with less than five days left to respond.

03

Straight to the source

Each listing shows the agency, place, set-aside type and deadline, and links to the official notice.

04

Quiet when nothing fits

No match, no email. Most days you hear nothing from us.

An independent publication

The Set-Aside is not a government agency and is not affiliated with the SBA or SAM.gov. We read the public listings so you don't have to, and we link to the source every time.

Every listing links to SAM.gov

You always bid through the official notice, never through us.

We never ask for logins or documents

No SAM.gov password, no capability statements, no tax forms. Ever.

The alerts are free

No card, no trial that turns into a charge.

A real person behind it

Reply to any alert and it reaches Johan Struijk directly.

Questions

How is this different from searching SAM.gov myself?

SAM.gov lists every notice from every agency, and searching it well takes time. We watch it every day, compare each new notice with the NAICS codes on your profile, and email you only when one fits your business.

Do I need an SBA certification?

No. Any small business registered in SAM.gov can bid on small business set-asides. If you hold a certification such as HUBZone or WOSB, we point out the contracts reserved for it.

Where do the listings come from?

From SAM.gov's public data, the official site where federal agencies post contract opportunities. Always read the full notice and any amendments there before you bid.

How does it know what fits my business?

Small businesses list their NAICS codes (the industry codes they bid under) on their profile in the SBA's Small Business Search. We match new notices to those codes, to any certification a reserved set-aside needs, and to your state. If we can't find your profile, add your NAICS codes when you sign up.

Can I change my state or industry later?

Yes. Sign up again with the new choices. Every alert also has a one-click unsubscribe link.
